Pineapplefish aka Knight Fish
(Cleidopus gloriamaris)
The Pineapplefish, Cleidopus gloriamaris, is a species of fish in the family Monocentridae, and the sole member of its genus. It is also known as the knightfish or the coat-of-mail fish, due to the armour-like scales covering its body, and the port-and-starboard light fish, as it has a pair of bio-luminescent organs that are reminiscent of navigation lights on ships. Its specific epithet is from the Latin gloria and maris, meaning "glory of the sea"...(Wikipedia)
This is a rare fish indeed, in 5 years of diving in Perth as I write, I have never come across one of these on any dive site whether along the shore or the surrounding waters. This little yellow dude only comes out at night, and this taken @ KGT on a night dive around 21:00hrs. Thanks to Mac Calder for his contribution and for little "Dan the man Savey" with the vision to see this as I was being mauled by a school of Striped Catfish, this thing was just sitting in the middle of it.
